The Ashes Barns autumn wedding
Olivia and James had an autumn wedding at The Ashes Barns near Stoke-on-Trent, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Ashes is an exclusive use wedding venue, which means that only you and your guests will enjoy the space on the day. The entire wedding had a lovely autumnal feel, with small pumpkins scattered all around the venue, and the flowers complimenting those colours beautifully. I think autumn weddings are my new favourite!
Olivia chose to wear a flowy Jenny Packham number and her bridesmaids wore gorgeous silvery grey dresses. The groomsmen all wore navy suits which complimented the overall theme so well. Although the venue itself looks great without any decorations, Olivia really brought it to life with all of her DIY decorations. She worked so hard to handwrite all of the signs, and together they made the table centrepieces and every other decoration dotted around the venue.
Thinking of having a sparkler exit?
Once the ceremony and portrait session were out of the way, the highlight of the evening was the sparkler exit! Even though it took a little while to make sure we had everyone in the right spot, with enough lighters on hand, I really think it paid off! If you’re thinking of having a sparkler exit at your wedding, I highly recommend buying longer sparklers, such as these ones, as they burn for longer. I used these sparklers at my own wedding and they worked really well! This makes it easier for everyone to light them and be ready for the photos to be taken! Another tip is also to only get a small group of people to join in the sparkler shoot as it makes things more manageable! That’s not to say more guests can’t join in around us, but you don’t want to make the main line too long. Sparkler exits are a wonderful addition to autumn and winter weddings, especially when the light drops quite early on.
