The wedding of Donna & Ben
I arrived in Northampton around 11am to begin with groom preparations. Ben had two, that’s right – TWO Best Men (why not!) who were getting ready with him. I love it when couples don’t always follow ‘the rules’ when it comes to weddings. I think it’s important to realise that the day is about you! You should always do what’s right for you and your partner, even if it means breaking traditions sometimes.
Ben seemed incredibly calm during preparations. I don’t know why, but I always imagine the bride and groom to be a lot more nervous right before the wedding than they actually are!
Once the boys worked out how to put their bow ties on, we headed off to Northampton Cathedral. The cathedral was simply stunning, with lots of light coming in – a photographer’s dream! Most churches can have very limited natural light, which can make it a little tricky, but this church really was spot on. The ceremony was made all the more special by a lovely priest, who made sure to keep everyone entertained.
The reception took place in a beautiful marquee at Sywell Grange, also in Northampton. As we turned into Sywell Grange, we were greeted by a road lined with trees. Of course it made for a lovely backdrop for couple portraits later on in the day.
Donna and Ben did a great job of decorating the marquee, too! They chose the colour pink, and I must say, they really pulled it off! They even added pink wine glasses, which brought the whole theme together (a possible idea for all you brides to be!).
We had gorgeous sun throughout the day, and were blessed with some stunning golden light around sunset. It really was a dream to photograph!
Once again, a big thank you to Ania Ames for having me! I hope you enjoy looking through the photos.
