Cardiff wedding – Cathays Chapel and Chapel 1877
Maria and Carl chose Cathays chapel for their intimate wedding in Cardiff. The chapel has been recently restored and made into a beautiful space for smaller and more intimate weddings. Maria and Carl chose to have a smaller wedding, with only immediate family and friends attending, which made it all the more special! Those who couldn’t attend the wedding could watch online, as the entire ceremony was streamed.
I love the way the chapel was decorated – flowers lined the aisle where Maria walked to marry her best friend. Small terrariums were scattered around the chapel, too, which later made their way to the wedding reception. After the ceremony, I whisked the couple away to a nearby park to take their portrait photos. Thankfully, we were blessed with a beautiful evening!
The reception itself was held at Chapel 1877, a restaurant in central Cardiff. The guests enjoyed canapes on arrival, follow by dinner in a private area of the restaurant. Each guest received wedding favour treats in small burlap coffee bags, brought from Colombia by Maria’s mum. It was lovely to see Maria’s Colombian family really bond with Carl’s Welsh family and friends. The groom and his groomsmen even gave a performance when they sang one of their favourite songs, with their voices echoing around the entire restaurant. The evening came to a close with Maria’s bouquet throw, which brought on some giggles when the first attempt failed.
Huge congratulations are in order, Maria and Carl! It was a wonderful day surrounded by your closest family and friends – as every wedding should be!
